Workplace Injuries Drop in North Carolina

December 4, 2013

The rate of injuries or illnesses at work has dropped in North Carolina.

The News & Observer of Raleigh reported that the North Carolina Department of Labor reports the rate of injuries or sickness dropped last year to 2.9 incidents for every 100 fulltime employees.

The rate had been 3.1 per 100 workers during the previous three years.

In 1999, the rate was nearly twice as high.

Labor department spokeswoman Dolores Quesenberry says greater involvement by the agency is a big reason for the decline in North Carolina. Quesenberry says the agency work with businesses has helped create a safety culture.
