Allstate is non renewing, not cancelling so there is no refund.Companies are supposed to collect a premium for assumig risk.Problem is they want your premium but no risk.I owned two 1ndependent agencies up north before i retired to sw florida.I just got my allstate non renew letter. They are doing this all over the east coast if your property is anywhere nearthe coast. Fortunately,i live in a fire restive condo with no mortgage. If Royl Palm is another rip off,i will buy the windstorm from citizens(state pool) add aliability only policy and put the premium i used to pay into a special savings account as a reserve. We need intervention on a federal level, same as flood insurance.

Wish people would mention the companies that are offering reasonable rates to them compared to Royal Palm. I haven\’t been able to come across any yet.

I spoke to my agent about 2 weeks ago, seems Royal Palm feels my house is worth about $40K more than Allsate thought, yeah right, they just wanted more money from me. I refused to let them tell me my home is worth that much more. Just this past July, I had to argue with Allstate telling them I needed more inusrance than they were giving me. I was told then, my land is the main portion of the value, not my home. Now the opposite is being told to me Hello, I was not born yesterday. Royal Palm wanted me to cover my \”other structures\” for $14K.. I only have a chain link fence that would run maybe $4K if that to replace! Another wayt they are trying to rip me off. My premium is going from just under $2K per year to just under $3300…and that is without changing the value the way they wanted me to! Had I done that, it would have run over $4K per year. My house was built in 1989, just over 1400 sf under air, fair market value is around $250K (if it were to even sell without inusurance companies willing to write coverage!) My Allstate is up on 1/21. I plan on calling other companies after the 1st of the year. I have called several major ones & some of them have said to call back after the 1st (when they can write more policy\’s)… the insurance here is one big scam.. and something needs to be done. I have been with Allstate for 17 years! was hit by Charley & had one claim.. they also have my auto\’s.. once I find someone to take my home.. (and not royal palm), I am switching my auto from them as well.. I have 4 cars and they get more from me for the auto than they do homeowners.. it will be their loss.

    Good point !
We received our best HO quote from Brown & Brown, in Daytona Beach. Non storm policy is with Fidelity National Insurance CO & the wind is with Citizens.
    Phone # 1-800-877-2769 ext 7297 for Brown & Brown.
    Good luck.

Our Allstate agent told us a month ago that Royal Palm\’s HO rates would come in \”about the same as Allstate\’s\”.
Boy was that a CROCK ! Our old HO rate was like $2,100 per year & the new qoute from Royal Palm was $7,500.
We are switching our cars in Jan \’07 to AARP, saving $800 per year, & got a HO quote here in the Daytona area for About $3,500. Our home\’s insured value will be about $450 & we are on the ICW & one long black west of the ocean.
It really pisses me off that Allstate is allowed to pick & chose here in FL where they want to write !!
    Good luck !

If the insurance companies cannot raise their rates without approval, how is it when you are denied remewal, the new insurance co. can charge 3 or 4 times the amount. Aren\’t they under some sort of rules and regulation. Does Allstate charge this exhorbant amount to new customers?

Please let me know if I can help with your auto. I was researching for a friend who was having problems with royal palm, came across this. Very sorry to hear the frustration. Maybe I can get a lower auto rate for some of you.

This past week we went with the AARP deal & saved $600.00 per year from Allstate insuring two cars.
AARP appears to be a good alternatine for us !
    Best…

Are there any shareholders in common between the old Florida versions of Allstate and this new Royal Palm company?
