Mary, Dawn…you are so right! Maybe these guys would like to make $5.15 an hr. Lets help our own people for a change. Maybe we should elect the CEO of Walmart, who figured out how to get to New Orleans before FEMA!

Hey Gil, we are being censored by big brother at IJ. They should spend more time trying to write a proper article and less time worrying about postings that do not include any profanity or racism. Let me guess, the mod is probably female. I feel I am being discriminated against.

I agree 100% with Dawn and Mary. Name one thing that Bush did that helped the poor without any kickback for the rich and I will name over 100 things that Bush did that hurted the economy and the poor. As for New Orleans, there is a video that shows Bush in a meeting with his administration. They asks him what do they need to do about the levees because it will not hold up against the storm that was coming to New Orleans. HE said to wait until after the storm. About the looting that was taken place in New Orleans; what would you do if you lost everything and had no one helping you and you have a baby wearing a 3 day old diaper. New Orleans was wrong for the stealing of TV\’s and the shootings, etc. But if I was there and I needed a diaper & food for my baby and Fema was 5 days late. I would also be there getting what I need. It\’s called survival. Everybody would be doing that. We can send billions of dollars overseas and give open invitations to illegal immegrants but we can not help the people in need here. The ones who paid taxes all their life here. We can put an alcoholic on the system but we can\’t put someone who have a disability on the system until after the 3rd denial. We cant help the people who are living under a bridge but we can send aid to underdevelope countries. We cant help the childern who are in abusive homes but we can go adopt childern in other countries. But yet we can tell other countries how to run their government; arent we backwards. Our work is right here with the people you see everyday.

Mary, please work on your grammar. Also, are you talking about the economy that has the lowest unemployment rate in over 20 years? Or the economy where home ownership is up over 40% from 1980? Maybe the economy where the stock market is at record high levels? Well, it that is not it, maybe its the economy where the housing sales just hit a record high last month? Mary, please advise what country you live in? I am curious. Also, if I had a baby with a 3 day old diaper, I guess I would try and steal a tv and beer too! As for the 5 days before FEMA showed up, that just shows that if you repeat a lie long enough, people with actually believe it. The old saying is a dog won\’t mess in its own kennel.

I\’m so sorry my grammar do meet your approval ratings. I\’ll do my best not to exceed your expectations. lol

You misquoted me. They were wrong to steal the tv\’s and beer, sweetie, however, I\’m not going to get on nobody\’s case for stealing the diapers and food b/c FEMA was no where to be found. I personally will do my best to care for my son in the case of a disaster and if that means that I would have to steal food b/c FEMA is FIVE DAYS late then I will. Just like other parent would do who loves their kids. That\’s called survival, baby. If I\’m wrong on how long it took for FEMA to come to New Orleans aid, please let me know so that I can have my facts straight. But so we can be on the same page: how long was it before the government sent money to Asia for the tsunmi, and we sent aid to Florida for the hurricanes, and we to north and south carolina for hurricane damages, and to california for wildfire and mudslides, and dont let me forget about good old Texas. I believe it was less than 72 hours. Do you not see why people was so upset in New Orleans?

I wished I lived where you lived at honey because where I am at unemployment is high and factories are shutting down. The numbers look good on tv because the unemployment office will kick you off the system if you dont find a job within a certain period of time. and the little jobs that are around are minimum wages. Can YOU live on mimimum wages? I can\’t, not with gas prices being like it is. Oops! I forgot you republicans gave the gas companies tax break when they were making the biggest revenue in history.

Here is what is in the News:

For the six consecutive quarter General Motors Corp. (NYSE:GM) is reporting a loss. The company says its first quarter earnings loss was $323 million, or $0.57 per share. GM\’s struggling North American division reported a loss of $946 million. The automaker, which lost more than $10 billion last year is in the middle of a major restructuring effort that will mean 30,000 job cuts by 2008. (wow, unemployment rate is pretty low, right?)

Barnes & Noble Takes 1st-Quarter Loss. The loss for the quarter ended May 5 totaled $1.6 million, or 3 cents per share, versus a profit of $10 million, or 14 cents per share a year ago.

Gasoline prices climbed Thursday after another round of outages at U.S. refineries.

    Jobless Claims Rise Slightly.

Circuit City\’s recent profit warning and concerns about competition have pulled the plug on the consumer electronics retailer\’s shares.

Limited Brands Inc. said on Wednesday that its earnings fell 46 percent in the first quarter.

I guess you have to correct my grammar and my spelling this time babe. I usually pay someone to write my letters for me. lol.

Mary, AMEN! This site is not about grammar or spelling, but some of these Posters seem to get excited about calling other Posters on their grammar. You got the message across and that is all that counts!
We can send people to Mars, but we can\’t help our people right here in the good old USA, go figure!

President Bush signed a $10.5 billion relief package within four days of the hurricane, and National Guard and troops arriving with relief of food, water, and medicine, as well as to partake in security and rescue operations within 1-2 days of the hurricane. There is still over 1 billion dollars worth of aid available to New Orleans and Louisiana but the local and state elected leaders have failed to apply for this aid at the present time. Mayor Nagin response was that the Feds wanted him to fill out paperwork in order to get the aid and he didn\’t feel he should have to do anything. Well, if he is that lazy, then the people of New Orleans need to use him to prop up there levies. Also, what about all those 2K debit cards that were handed out.? So, those who claimed they needed it for diapers and food went out and bought booze, diamond rings and porn with there new found money. Why should I give a damn about these people if they don\’t give a damn about themselves. As the old saying goes, give a man a fish, he eats for a day; teach a man to fish, he eats everyday. I\’m sorry, but we have fallen into such an entitlement society that it just sickens me. Can you imagine what are great grandparents and grandparents would say about our culture today?

Hi Compman…I\’m asking this nonconfrontationally…I just want to read all of this for myself….where did you obtain that information. I knew about the $2K Debit cards, but did not know Nagin didn\’t apply for aid because he thought he shouldn\’t have to….just want to do a little research.
