Anon has it right. The charm and civility demonstrated by the girls on the basketball team following the incident was inspirational. A lawsuit removes the inspiration and replaces it with a more base human condition: greed. Too bad…I remember thinking as I watched the news develop and the way in which the girls comported themselves and my first thought was “it’s only a matter of time before someone on this team tries to parley this into the litigation lottery”. I’m sad that when I thought I was just a jaded claims person, I was actually right in my prediction. Wonder how long it will take before others follow this person’s lead.
I also have a comment for ‘African Pride’: Imus lost his high-paying position in the media and tarnished his own reputation for good. Don’t you think that impacted his wallet enormously? Of course there was no transfer of money to the plaintiff, which leads me to my initial assertion: this is simple greed.

She isn’t a “little girl” and Imus was paid for a legitamate breach of contract claim.

I’m not saying what he said was right but CBS did breach his contract.

These are facts as oppsed to opinions.

Someone needs to explain to this gal that she is the one full of it now… Imus has been full of it for years & what makes her think that she can get $ out of this??? All the BS from Al & Jessie & any other race advocate that wants to play the race card as a trumph!

Bet she is holding a pair of duces counting this trump card & ends up with nada because it takes jacks or better to win!

I sure hope she learns from this & can get over herself soon, otherwise it will be a long time until she can have a good reputation again!

Good Luck Ding Bat! Oh, that was not meant to be racist…. Hope it didn’t sound that way…. Would hate to have her feel like being “of color” was a problem here when it’s totally clear that it’s her Greed that’s labeled her now!

First of all, this never would have been a national issue if the self appointed king of all African-Americans Sharpton hadn’t made a national issue of it. Nobody listens to Imus anymore. Further, Imus’s mistake was that he had re-invented himself into a political commentator; he is not Howard Stern. That is why his intended comical comment was so ill received. His next big mistake was going on Sharpton’s radio show to apologize. Imus should have told Sharpton that he would apologize as soon as Sharpton apologized for all of his racial comments from the Tawana Brawley incident. Finally, this suit by the Rutger’s player is simply some friggin lawyer saying there is a shot at easy money for this girl. Imus cannot settle; neither can the radio station or else there will be 11 more suits or 12 more counting the coach. I wonder how many of the players were solicited to file a suit before they got one to say yes.

Let me tell you something African Pride; I am a white man, born and raised in a small community the south, and all my life blacks (not the ones in our community, as they were friends) have looked at me and assumed I was racist. I resent that, but you don’t see me on the news suing some black guy for calling me “cracker”. My parents are both from outside the south and raised us to respect people as individuals, no matter what.

If you are a black American, then get that chip off your shoulder and people will start treating you like a friend instead of someone that may go off on them if they call you the wrong name, i.e. negro, colored, black, African American, etc.

Racism is perpetuated by those who gain power and attention from it. Sharpton and Jackson depend on racism for their livelihood. That’s why the are the first ones on the scene yelling “Racist, racist, racist!”

If you actually wathced most of the events after Imus shot off his mouth, there was more proliferation by Al SHarpton than anyone else. He would not let it rest until he realized the headlines and money to his organization was drying up.

If women want to really make a change for thier own self image then they do need to attack the music industry. Opps, most of those with the songs that degrade women are black. Well better go somewhere else.

Imus has and always has had a big crude mouth. The entire planet knows that and I do not know one person that ever takes anything he says seriously.

Time to move on. Get your degree and actually get a real JOB.

You know… if everyone woudl get over themselves it woudl be a much better place but so many have the I am better than you mentality & then some live to play the victim because it got them something at one time or another & their greed will drive them to continue… Until people can walk away & forgive another for whatever… they will always suffer the wrath that comes along with holding on to it!

Is every body simply angry about her gall to even ponder a lawsuit to make Imus pay for his comments? I mean since no one knows what this girl is even suing for…

It could be $20 million or $20 thousand. I think the dollar value is extremely important when determining if this is really about greed or her reputation.

Your Question: So why should Imus get paid for calling a little girl names and she can’t get anything for him injuring her reputation?

HELLO???? She is not a little girl; she is pretty much grown… Imus lost his position (no more job) is why he was paid, which was based on the breach of contract clause in his contract… & what should she get from someone making a statement? He did not say her name & then nappy headed ho, it was a generalized comment & probably something he heard from the crappy rap that permeates the radio these days that has been brought to us all across America by the black community, who then gets bent when someone of another race uses their slang terms to describe them as they describe themselves!

Have you never been called a name? Don’t you get it??? She should get nothing more than the apology she already accepted & apparently had second thoughts afterwards, so if she can’t make up her mind about accepting an apology… that tells you why there is no monetary amount listed on the suit, she wants all she can get & so does her Attorney so he/she can get 35% minimum too!
