Fla. Man Arrested for Attempted Felony Murder, Arson; Damages Estimated at $5,000

The Florida State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Sanford Police have charged 29-year old Leroy L. Fischer with attempted felony and arson after he allegedly set fire to a residence with two sleeping children inside. The fire resulted in the injury of one adult.

Investigators allege that Fischer, intentionally used an accelerant to set fire to a residence at 7 Castle Brewer Court at around 2 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 8.

At the time of the fire, two adults and two children were asleep in the residence. Both children and one adult escaped without injury, however one of the adults suffered lacerations to his arms while escaping. The fire caused an estimated $5,000 in damages. Fischer also allegedly burned an automobile parked at the residence.

Officials allege that Fischer set fire to the structure after an alleged altercation occurred the night before the fire involving Fisher’s mother and the residents of 7 Castle Brewer Court.

Fischer was charged with four counts of attempted felony murder, one count of first-degree arson to a residential structure and one count of first-degree arson to a conveyance. He was booked into the Seminole County jail and is being held without bond. If convicted on all charges, he could face 25 years to life in prison.
