A 26-year-old Lake Charles, La., woman has been arrested for insurance fraud.
Louisiana State Police say a vehicle registered to Natalie Fontenot was involved in an April 2010 crash in a private parking lot in Westlake. Investigators say Fontenot claimed she was driving and that her young son was with her at the time of the crash.
But further investigation determined that neither Fontenot nor her son was present at the time of the crash and in an interview she later admitted to not being in the vehicle when the accident occurred.
Fontenot was booked Friday into the Calcasieu Parish Correctional Center on a charge of insurance fraud. If convicted, she faces up to five years in prison and a $5,000 fine.
