How long has your current policy been – supposed to have been – in force? Did you get a policy yet?

    A. Fleming, are they telling you they have no record of your policy too?
What parish are you in if I might ask? I’m trying to get a list of afflicted places to put together how many people are having this particular problem.
Also, have you called AIR and spoken with Patrick?

Ok, then please tell me an efficient way to handle a claim from a company that is denying knowledge of me having a policy. Despite the fact that a few days before they denied knowledge of the policy they input my policy number and said they were filing a claim. They gave me an ID # and everything. Now when I call they say they have no record of me or my policy. The State Farm agent has a copy of my policy and the bank had proof that they cashed my check. Its not even about getting the claim money now. I just need to have house insurance or else my bank might close my mortgage and I could lose my house.

LA Fair Plan said to call their service provider, MacNeill Coastal Group. MacNeill said to call Central Claims Services, Inc. Central Claims won’t answer phone calls, answer emails or faxes, and locked their doors at the N. Causeway, Metairie,LA, location. Are we screwed? No one is willing to help. Are this people legit. I will lose what is left to my home if I don’t get a claim in NOW.

In the spirit of volunteerism, I would like to invite the people of Louisiana to ask me, an insurance agency owner, about EEFFICIENT ways to get their claims handled. Thank you.

I’ve got an idea that foreclosure is not something mortgage companies are going to be interested in doing. What are they going to do with a bunch of damaged houses in a disaster area? Unless you have an almost $0 mortgage balance they can’t sell the house for anything near the debt.
Can the panic and do your best.

Dear Su, Yes you do have a policy, even if they “can’t find it.” REALLY crystallize your thinking on this claim and think in terms of the 3 most important things you can do right now. Don’t get hung up with frustration, personalities, etc. Have a cell phone and fax near at all times. Call your company and tell them you want to file a claim. If they hesitate, immediately ask for a supervisor. Demand your claim adjuster’s name, cell phone, fax, address, etc. now. He is your most important person and can maybe write a check to you on the spot. Call him immediately. Ask when is the best time to reach him. It is his responsibility to go to the site, not yours. For important calls, 1st thing in the morning is always best. Stay in touch with your claim adjuster about every 2 days–the squeaky wheel gets the grease. Make sure he can reach you 24/7 and have a place to get mail, where you are SURE it will be delivered. Any time you talk to company people and adjusters who are not sharp or interested in your situation, ask for a supervisor now. I would not call your mortgage company or involve them at this point, unless they have contacted you first. Be pro-active to make this happen, and make it easy for this to happen. Make sure your thinking is as clear as possible. Don’t give up!Good luck. Sincerely, James W. Bolenbaugh

Hal, perhaps you misunderstood my situation. My house only had minor damage. I am not worried so much about getting money for the damages at this point. My problem is that I need a new insurance company since Fairplan is denying I have a policy. However, I can’t get coverage from other places with the current condition of my house because it needs repair. I cannot do the repairs without money.
I can’t go to the bank for another loan because if they check and find that the insurance company is denying I have a policy they may just forclose.
It might not make sense for them to do it, but you never know what other people are going to do. It doesn’t make sense for Fairplan to deny I have a policy yet that is what they are doing.
