I will let you in so you can visit Disney World. :) You seem like a pretty cool guy.
Tracy-
I agree with you on a few points. But isn\’t that why the coverage would be available to everyone in the nation? Funded by the nation, for the nation? But like I said, I skimmed the article. Seems to me to be a summary of the article. I guess now I will go and read it. I don\’t really want to bail anyone out (unless it is by choice) and I don\’t want anyone to bail ME out either.
But, you realize this happens all the time, right? And since this is tax season, I would like to call your attention to the Earned Income Credit.
Sorry if you are not getting the sympathy that you feel you deserve. It would be a prefect world if we all paid $500 for all of our insurance needs, had gas/electric bills of $100 a month, didn’t have to pay any state income taxes, etc. etc. etc. Unfortunately that is not the case.
As a nation we have always come to the assistance of anyone in the event of a natural disaster and I assume we always will. But to ask the nation to subsidize your insurance premiums just because you feel you pay too much… I’m sorry, but I would have a real hard time supporting that.
I would prefer going to Canada in the winter over Florida and deal with the cold and snow. After all 99% of Canadians can speak English and it\’s a much more friendly tourist destination (nobody there goes around *****ing about their insurance costs all the time).
My property taxes are $6,000 a year. So when I do the math we are just about the same levels. So, do what the rest of the world is telling us to do….MOVE!
I live in New York. Between the school taxes, city taxes, town taxes and county taxes I pay $9600 and climbing by the year. That number is not even close to high numbers around here. My parents\’ house has been paid off for years but they still pay almost $1000 a month in escrow for their taxes. In New York even when your home is paid for you don\’t own it, the state does.
Ah C\’mon Jewel. I love the earned income credit. Kids keep eating food but the government mandates that we have to feed them. There they are always trampling my civil rights telling me what to do. It\’s only fair they should take up some of the cost then.
(Everyone did get the tongue in cheek right? You never know…)

I won\’t make fun of your spelling error if you\’ll let me through the border so I can go to Disney World.
:-)
What state do you live in and how big is your house? $9600 is a hellavu lot.
