\”And, BTW this was not a state requested program but a national one to cover other things than just hurricanes\”.
If that is the case why are only the Coastal Senators asking for the plan?
Linda, the point is that its always something somehere..heating up north, hurricanes in the south, Twister in the midwest and earthquakes out west. Each state needs to take car of themselves, since insurance is state regulated and quit asking for everyone else to bail them out. I feel your pain, but there is always someone worst off than you.
How many months out of the year are you paying the $300 for heating costs? Maybe 6? That is $1800.00. Sure I will trade my windstorm bill for your heating bill.
And to the other posters like cut the crap, not everyone lives on the ocean with views of the water. Take a look at a map to see how much of Florida is not on the water.
Maybe we should just put up a \”closed\” sign at the border of Florida and not let any more snowbirds in. Stay up north during your winters instead of invading our state and clogging the highways with your pour driving habits.

To answer your question, I skimmed the article. No, I didn\’t read it all… but I did come across this excerpt:
\”Lawmakers from other Gulf states, the Northeast, and elsewhere have also voiced support for such a national program, which would establish a backup for property insurance similar to a federal program set up for terrorism insurance after the Sept. 11 attacks.\” – article we are posting about
It clearly says the Northeast. Is everyone who lives in the Northeast on the coast? And I presume elsewhere means elsewhere. So it seems like it is not just coastal senators, as you stated. I do not have any further information that I can post in order to assist in this matter.
Linda, without our money to spend in Florida and the taxes we pay while there to fund Citizens, you\’d be in a world of hurt. Kiss our rings, and we\’ll come back again next winter
Wouldn\’t it be nice if some of the Floridians would help pay my $500 annual snowplowing contract to help get rid of the 150-200\” of snow that I get annually. Just a few years ago, I was paying $300. Cost has increased 66% over the past 2 years (mostly due to fuel costs and insurance for the plow drivers)
You forgot the $9600 in property taxes on a $190,000 assessed house, are you going to handle those too? And, BTW I pay $860 for my home insurance and I live in the state with the highest sales (8.5%), property and income taxes in the nation.
As I said, although I feel for your troubles ours are just as bad if not worse. We can\’t help you if we can\’t barely help ourselves.

Pardon me, but aren\’t we all still bailing out Louisiana and Mississippi from Katrina?
Please don\’t post about my spelling error.

Ask Linda to come up and shovel, while you go down to florida and stay at her place.
