A brush fire in the southern Arizona community of Hereford burned eight acres and threatened homes.
Three fire departments and the Bureau of Land Management responded to the fire Wednesday afternoon south of Sierra Vista.
A local fire chief tells The Sierra Vista Herald that gusty winds pushed the fire toward nearby homes, but crews managed to successfully contain the fire.
No structures were damaged and there are no reports of injuries. Investigators are checking to see whether the fire was caused by someone who was illegally burning Wednesday.
