California-based ILOG(R), a provider of enterprise-class software components, announced that Vision Service Plan (VSP(R)), a provider of vision care insurance coverage in the United States, has selected ILOG JRules(TM) Business Rule Management System (BRMS) to make the management of its claims processing system more agile.
ILOG JRules, which will be embedded in VSP’s custom claims processing system, will power the validation of claims based on hundreds of constantly changing decision factors, including the nature of the claim, the type of policy, and complex regulatory requirements that vary from state to state. These business policies and best practices are represented by rules, which ILOG’s BRMS renders in a business language familiar to VSP’s business users.
This approach will enable VSP to extend responsibility for managing the claims processing system beyond the IT department by allowing VSP’s business users to implement and maintain necessary changes to policies and processes.
VSP’s selection of ILOG JRules was also due to its scalability and ease of integration with the company’s existing IT architecture, which includes IBM’s WebSphere(R), and legacy systems.
