The mother of a Lexington woman shot to death in the parking lot of her gated community has filed a lawsuit alleging the man charged was allowed access after there was an active emergency protective order against him.
Diana M. Ross filed the lawsuit Thursday in Fayette Circuit Court as personal representative of the estate of Amanda Ross.
Amanda Ross was gunned down last September.
Former state Rep. Steve Nunn has been charged with murder and has pleaded not guilty. The prosecution is seeking the death penalty.
The Lexington Herald-Leader reports the defendants in the lawsuit are Opera House Square I LTD., as well as several townhouse and homeowners’ associations.
The lawsuit seeks an undetermined amount of cash and a jury trial.
