Georgia officials charged a high school senior with setting a fire that destroyed a classroom trailer and damaged a second trailer at his Gwinnett County school.
Authorities say 17-year-old Matthew Cooper of Snellville turned himself in Aug. 27 to face charges of arson and criminal damage to property in the Aug. 16 fire at Brookwood High School.
Capt. Thomas Rutledge said firefighters were called shortly before 7 a.m. that Saturday after a coach and several members of the cross country team saw smoke coming from behind the school building.
School was not in session and there were no injuries.
