People insure their houses up to what they think is affordable premiums, regardless whether it’s under-insured or not…when you tell them how much their premiums will be for them to be adequately insured they shudder and say. “well let’s see how we can get that down”…so they begin to whittle it down like it’s some sort of garage sale. Then they have a loss and suddenly it’s the insurance company’s fault for allowing them to carry too little.
