    Karen,

Where do I begin? What are you doing on this site if you are not involved in insurance? Maybe you\’re here simply to insult people who work in an industry you know nothing about. Or maybe you did not get what you wanted out of your insurance claim. Key word \”wanted\”; you probably got paid what you were owed.

Why is it that when people get a thorn in their *ss, they start calling insurance people names, and insulting them?

What do you do, or did you do, for a living, Karen? Was the company you owned or worked for in the business of giving away products or services for free? If so, where did the money come from for your pay?

I bet the money was made \”off of people\” you did business with. Oh, wait; let me use that phrase all you lefties like so much.

I bet the money was made \”off the backs of hard working Americans\”!

Cum by freakin\’ ya!! Let\’s smoke some more weed and bit*h about the big, bad insurance companies…

    Hail Castro!

WOW you insurance people sure do show your colors don\’t you!
As a matter of fact I am involved in insurance. I am one of the people in Florida that is having my hard earned money stolen by the insurance industry so they can pay the ignorant people like you big money! What makes you think I have had any claims? As a mater of fact rude boy I have never made any claim against my insurance in the 45 years I have paid them! I insult you because of your behavior and arrogance and because you all think you are better than everyone because you are able to steal our money!

The company I own makes a profit, however it does not do it by stealing and cheating people as the insurance industry does. You should try some honest hard work and maybe you could exhaust your ego a little!

I also think the only “weed” being smoked here is by you, maybe that’s why you are so rude and arrogant! Grow up! I can only hope your parents aren’t alive to see what a twit they raised!

Sorry Charlie you will be a one term Gov. Your actions will cause more co\’s to leave or further reduce writtings. I know, you do not care b/c you have CPIC. What a joke that is. They were 1.3 Billion in the red and CPIC now has less premium and more exposure prior to the 2004 and 2005 hurricane seasons. All of the homeowners in this state will be paying for this for years to come. Ginny -You should bet on another horse. This race is going to be over when the wind blows and rates go higher than you can afford b/c of the assessments from this guy they call the people\’s gov. He can pay the bill then.

    Ginny,

Don\’t compare apples and oranges. Last I heard, Wal-Mart was a retail corporation and not insurance company. They are not regulated by each state they do business in, nor do they have to get state approval for the prices they charge for soap, toys, and deodorant.

The record profits you refer to include all lines of business; life, health, auto, homeowners, etc.

Do you think Florida would let insurance companies operate based on the laws of other states? Hell no! So why should profits made in other states be concidered when setting Florida rates? Does Florida have the same risk exposure as say, N. Dakota, Ohio, Arizona, or even Alabama? No! It may be close to the exposure of Louisiana, but still not the same. Not to mention the regulatory environment is completely different. Next thing you know, Crist will want to use Allstate\’s national profits to set State Farm\’s Florida rates. Makes about as much sense.

These \”pup\” companies complain about loosing money in Florida however they don\’t tell you (well they tell their stockholders) that they make millions in Florida on Car insurance, Annuities, and other types of insurance. Florida companies make the second highest profits in insurance in the United States! YUP if I had the money to invest in an insurance company in Florida I would do it so I could be a millionaire too!!!

The record profits you refer to include all lines of business; life, health, auto, homeowners, etc.

Your statement above is exactly my point! If they want to reap the huge profits in all lines of business then they need to deal with the natural disasters of hurricanes like other states deal with their natural disasters. These are \”risk based\” companies that are supposed to spread the risk over large areas. So let me ask you this….when a natural disaster occurs like a tornado that wipes out a town, should the insurance industry no longer cover any tornados in that town anymore or give the people 500% rate increases? The insurance industry wants to offer insurance and not have to pay claims…they want only \”safe policies\” and that is not the nature of their business. It is painfully obvious how slimy the insurance industry is. Look at what happened after Katrina, where companies had to be sued to pay claims. They did every trick in the book to not have to pay peoples claims, people who had faithfully paid their premiums for YEARS! It is such a joke and I can\’t believe that anyone would back his or her hideous practices. Basically no one who is not reaping the massive profits of the companies has anything bad to say about them, it\’s the poor people on the other side of it. The ones who are loosing their homes, or who have had to fight for their claims to be paid. It is a terrible greed based business that needs MORE regulation to protect its customers.

    Ginny,

OK, so in your mind, it would be acceptable for your auto premiums to be used to pay for my hospital bills for aheart by-pass. Right?

No, but if the insurance industry was making billions on heart stents and not making as much money on heart bypass surgery and therefore stoped paying for bypass or charged people 500% more if they wanted to have coverage for bypass there would be as bad an outcry as we are having!

For all you insurance people…there is nothing you could possibly say to me and the over 1 1/2 million people our group represents in Florida to change our minds that 500% increases in insurance premiums are fair and reasonable for a company that boasts about record profits. We have a right for fair and reasonable premiums just as your companies have a right for fair and reasonable profits. But the fact remains that we don\’t get 500% raises in our pay and neither should you!

    Here\’s a recap…

    My comment/question:
    \”Ginny,

OK, so in your mind, it would be acceptable for your auto premiums to be used to pay for my hospital bills for a heart by-pass. Right?\”

    Ginny\’s response:
\”No, but if the insurance industry was making billions on heart stents and not making as much money on heart bypass surgery and therefore stoped paying for bypass or charged people 500% more if they wanted to have coverage for bypass there would be as bad an outcry as we are having!\”

How, can you say that profits accross all lines of insurance should be taken into account when setting homeowner\’s insurance premiums, yet those profits should not be used to help pay the homeowner\’s claims?

And whether it\’s stents or by-pass, it\’s still health insurance dollars paying the bill, not auto insurance dollars!

Revenues or profits from out of state should not and are not used in calculating rates in any state. Why should Florida be any different?
