Do you believe that an insurance company should be able to recover its losses from a catastrophic event? If so, over what time period?

What losses are you talking about, when these companies keep posting record profits…where are all theses losses? It\’s like Wal-Mart; some stores make more money than others yet they don\’t close the ones making less. As a matter of fact the Wal-Mart in Louisiana had major losses after Katrina when it was looted till it was completely empty, yet they didn\’t close the store and move out of the state, why because they make record overall profits. If the fact was that the insurance industry was really going bust then I could see the increases but they aren\’t loosing money. We here in Florida have seen increases between 200% and 500% and yet our pay goes up only 2% to 5% at best no matter what losses we have or increases in bills. People can\’t handle the increases unless they are millionaires.

Ginny, if the national company posts record profits when the Florida subsidiary is posting losses, doesn\’t it tell you that insuring property in FL is a loser\’s game? Why don\’t you put your money where your mouth is, invest in a Florida-only property insurance company, and just sit back and rake in the big bucks?
But, no whining when you lose your shirt!

Given the opportunity to protect and prudently grow your own wealth, would you choose to invest your personal assets in Allstate or Citizens?

    I thought so.

I hope the companies hold Crist & Co feet to the fire and pull out.

I do not want my customers premiums to increase because of Florida!!!!!!!

Is Crist really that stupid, or just blatantly dishonest? Since when does suppression of insurance rates act as a shield against hurricanes?

Maybe he really is that much smarter than absolutely everyone else on earth. Time will tell.

Oh my goodness… now we\’re in a quadry. Who is smarter – AL Gore or Charlie Crist? One created the internet and the other a hurricane shield. And do we beleive either?

And please Governor Crist, explain to me how your actions are going to put sufficient dollars in the kitty to pay claims when the next hurricane blows through and accomplishes yet another urban renewal project.

It\’s just too bad more insureds do not have a clue what is going on with this situation. They would be furious. I can\’t even imagine the spin that must be going on in Tallahassee. How do you combine so many bad decisions??? It really is embarrassing.
