My Mom and sister live in Picayune. I spoke to them after the Hurricane passed through on Monday. My mom house was not damaged and she was not aware of the overall damage throughout Picayune.

She lives on Weems street (I think this is considered South Picayune-not far from Carriere) and my sister lives in Mill brook (north Picayune). Those areas were hit hard but many of the homes were still in tact and some people were out driving around. I haven’t been able to get through the phone lines since late Monday night.

Electricity and phones will be out for at least a couple of weeks; however my sister called me today from Hattiesburg, Ms which was also hit hard and stated that some people with Bell South Mobility service were still able to call out and receive calls.

People are now able to get in and out of Picayune but it was not advisable because there are no gas stations open.

It seems that the red cross has come in and stated providing assistance.

My Mom and sister live in Picayune. My mom is Rudis Bonner (601-798-0428 and lives at 616 weems street); My sister is Pamela Thomas (601-798-8144 in Millbrook Estates in North Picayune).

I have not been able to get through the phone lines. I have two request for anyone who can contact them:

    1. Please call me at 502-212-6117 if you are able to find out how they are doing.

    2. I would like for someone to inform my mom that my sister (Ti) in Hattiesburg is OK and that the Red cross is in Hattiesburg providing assitance. Tell my mom that if possible, she can get a message to Ti by calling 601-606-6768.

My sister (Ti) is in Hattiesburg. It was hit hard but the Red Cross has intervene. She’s at USM and it seems that the campus is fairly in tact.

They will be without electricity/phones for about 2 weeks. And there is no gas. People are able to leave Hattiesburg but it is not advisable because there is no gas available. I am waiting on my sister to call me back with a number for the Red cross.

My sister is at USM. I just talked to her. She called me from a cell phone serviced by Bell South Mobility. Hattiesburg was hit hard but it seems the campus is fairly intact. The Campus cafeteria is providing three meals a day and the red cross has intervened.

Hey, I’m an old friend of Thomas Hawkins who lives in Hattiesburg. I’m not sure if he still works for Walmart, but he used to. He’s a white male around 26 yrs old. I haven’t spoken to him in a few years, but since hearing of the hurricane- I’m very concerned. If you or someone who knows him passes by this- please let me know if he’s okay. Thanks and my prayers go out to all!
