Atlanta-based Crawford & Company announced that Thorn Smith has been awarded the professional insurance designation Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) by the American Institute for CPCU.
The CPCU designation is conferred by the American Institute for Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters (AICPCU). Insurance professionals who earn the CPCU designation must pass undergraduate- and graduate-level examinations, meet experience requirements, and agree to be bound by a strict code of professional ethics. This year, a total of 1,322 industry professionals earned their CPCU designation.
Smith worked on assignment for Crawford from 1996 until 1999 and returned to Crawford full-time in October, 2004. He is currently working as a general casualty adjuster in Crawford’s Nashville branch.
Prior experience includes general practice law; assistant counsel in the Office of the General Counsel of the United States Navy; head of a legal investigation firm; casualty adjuster; fraud investigator; and defense attorney.
