I think a tad more should be said regarding Tom\’s family in order for anyone to understand him.

    His parents have both passed.

He has one brother, a sister in law and a niece and nephew, all living in Rhode Island. They weren\’t in court. I don\’t know that there is any contact with them. My guess is between the Nicaragua Account and his brother Luke, that\’s where all the money is being hidden. I think his family is keepin their distance for that reason.

There is a former wife whom he divorced, he\’d been cheating on her for years and she just kept turning her head. It was worth it, he gave her a great lifestyle with everyone else\’s money.

He has lots of bummy girlfriends. Had a ball in the last year – knew he was going away with nothing to look forward to. Broad, booze and partying. Nothing that ever lasted, he had one that he really cared about, but she died a couple years ago. But she had already dumped him.

Then there\’s the one that did post at the beginning last May, about staying with him through \”thick and thin\” – well, when the thick ran out, so did she. She\’s back on her brass pole somewhere, turning tricks for dollar bills or maybe on a corner with a mattress strapped to her back. She was only in it for the good times.

But that\’s it. He\’s the lone wolf. Doesn\’t care about how long he sits in a cell, he has no one worth worrying about to come home to….no family, no love, no nothing.

He\’s a totally Narcacisstic, only care about himself personality. He\’ll wait it out and have a bundle, making interest for him when he\’s released. He\’s never worked, he has no life and caring about me, you or anyone else – just isn\’t in his makeup.

It\’s been over a year that I have sat and read these postings. First of all, I would like to take the time to sincerely thank everyone who has supported my husband, myself and our family.

I know and everyone with a smidge of grey-matter in the skull knows who made this last posting. From the content I have to wonder how high you were, how devastated you must be at your own life style and how desperate to want to hurt me to type such a hideous and untruthful piece of slander and nothing.

There is no way on this green earth that my husband would entertain yourself and any of your friends with anymore than a harmless flirtation. Nor would he certainly engage in any type of an \”affair\” and \”support you so generously.\” To even intimate that he had you as a guest in our home is perhaps the most laughable yet. When I traveled to Rhode Island or Tim-buck-too, our son Stephen was always there in our home with his Dad. For you to blatantly state that he entertained you in our home and defiled our privacy like that is something I can\’t even imagine happening in my wildest dreams.

Obviously there were just too many negative hits against my husband\’s co-defendant for you to handle. Although, by your lack of presence in the Courtroom to give this co-defendant any support, your genuine concern baffles and befuddles me.

You have taken some shots here, but you were asking for it. First you hit me between the eyes last May on this site with the fact that I had, as a teenager had put an infant up for adoption. You angered my children and friends and they retalliated against you. Now you take a shot a the sanctity of my marriage, to that I take umbridge. Don\’t defile what you don\’t know anything about, something you\’ve never been exposed to or could appreciate.

My sympathy goes to the Investors – Victims in this case, who truly have a lot of money invested in this company.

My sympathy goes to my husband who got caught up in the dynamics of his co-defendant\’s illegal operations. I remember the promises he was made that this would be \”…the last time he\’d need help with his payments\” and how \”…soon we\’ll buy property!\” I remember it all.

You and he weren\’t a family, you were just some flirtation. You and I both know the love of his life has passed away, you were just a \”fill in!\”

There is a Sentencing Mitigation coming up soon. At this time, I think it would be wise for the Investors / Victims, to band together and to make a wise decision. Would they like some of there monies back or none. A Twenty-five year sentence is a life sentence, they will never see any of their money. If my husband is allowed to be released, he\’ll make restitution. If his co-defendant is released, I think he\’ll try as well. How long his staying power is, I don\’t know. However I do know my husband is strong, moral and honest.

It\’s time to write to the Judge, write to the Attorney General and ask that a lienent sentence be imposed and then suspended so that restituion can be made.

An Investor has already called my husband\’s attorney asking for one of the checks that we had written out for the Investors / Victims. They didn\’t understand that if they \”won\” and the two guilty parties were sent to prison, they wouldn\’t get their money. They thought they could have their victory and also see them behind bars. Doesn\’t work that way. You have to give a little, to get a little.

I thank anyone who took the time to read my spiel. I shall not be posting anymore, but I thank you. If anyone would like to write to me I can be reached at JoycePetrarca@hotmail.com, and I would welcome any correspondence.

    Mrs. Steven P. Petrarca

I must say that this site has too much unneccessary drama and for the most part lacks any objectivity. I think it is great that Steve\’s family supports him. However, I know I didn\’t give Steve money so that he could move to a new home in a gated community and play golf several times a week. But yet he can\’t afford to pay us our money back? His lifestyle should be compromised, not ours. In court, they didn\’t have a plan to pay us back. And they had been working and unable to pay us anything. Why should we want them out? Instead of banding together to get them out of jail, we should be banding together to civil sue Steve and Joyce. There is no way that he didn\’t know what was going on. Tom may have had a problem but what is Steve\’s excuse? It boils my blood that they are living high on the horse with our money! As far as I am concerned, they are paying the consequence for their actions. Lying, cheating, and stealing is not okay. And as far as restitution goes, where are our checks that attorney was waiving around in court? He says we won\’t be getting them because they didn\’t like the sentencing. I have no respect for people who don\’t honor their word.

Instead of sitting around and just writing to each other and venting why not do exactly that – Rectify the Issue.

Write some letters, we\’ve all invested lots of money, why not invest in two .39 cent stamps and have our say with our state government and judicial system. Write to Judge Rapp, write to Attorney General Crist and give them sentences, suspend those sentences and let\’s get some restitution going here.

Having the State pay to keep them incarcerated is just plain wasteful. They\’re both bright and healthy and can work, let them do that and make some restitution.

Or, keep them locked up, the State of Florida can pay for them for 25 years and in 25 years, we\’ll all be dead and so will they and none of us will have gotten back a nickle. The choice is yours, it really seems pretty simple to me.

why bother writing anything on this site, the only postings that they keep up are the ones that repeat the same things over and over again..
We could already have been recieving restitution, had Steve been let out (Tom is still up on 2 other cases) but i guess you would all rather write back and forth to oneanother instead of being the least bit proactive in this matter. Baffles the mind, I\’d rather have the money.
25 years how ridiculous.. for trying to run a company, and getting burned by a partner.. what a country we live in where the legal system is so currupt. Murder, rape 5-8 years, investing in a hedge fund that WE KNEW WE COULDNT TOUCH FOR 5 YEARS and the man gets a life sentence?! The man whom the state offered a plea to.. wow guess that voting incident was the least of floridas problems..

there is no good ending to any of this..lets face it…if steve was the \”honorable\” man that his wife claimed he was he would have come to court with more than $25,000…he would have been willing to downgrade his and his familys lifestyle but he chose not to do that..someone previously said \”why should his wife leave her house\” maybe since it was paid for by the victims money…and most of them are out of their houses ..steves family still gets to live the high life courtesy of all the victims and its wrong..if he came to court with a very decent amount of money by selling some of his things then maybe we would all think he is a great guy…and i dont buy that its all toms fault…steve knew about this bad venture in the beginning but still took the checks..still cashed them and still SPENT them…and not for what he promised…so because he went back on his word stop talking about having to wait 5 years..yes that was the deal…but that wasnt the deal he kept up so therefore the money should be returned..as far as paying the victims back….that probably wont happen…if he gets out and puts say $500 a month in an account because lets be real here…how much can he really contribute from a paycheck..then what the victims will get $20 each??? why bother…and who is really going to hire him????
its a sad sad situation…yes steve has a family but so do all the victims…and due to their age they will never see their money unless steve \”suddenly\” remembers where some of it is hidden….
and by the way…what makes someone a west warwick monkey?? is is just because they live in west warwick??? then that makes both men and their families monkies since that is where they are from…i am from west warwick and i assure you i am no monkey….

Could some reasonably eduacated person please answer this question? What is a West Warwick monkey? Is it some Italian/Mafia slang that I am not aware of? Does it mean if you live in or have lived in West Warwick that you are a West Warwick monkey?

Name calling only shows your level of intelligence and self esteem.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the resolution of this issue of getting hard earned money back where it belongs.

Don\’t condemn the entire Masicarelli family, because of one rotten bad apple.

I only became aware of this Ponzi scheme in late May 2006, so I am trying to play catch up on facts. Since most of these posting read like a soap opera, or an episode of the Sopranos, it\’s taking me time to get the true facts.

I have no idea what a west warwick monkey is..i just came across these postings and kept reading the use of the term…it just shows that some people feel the need to try and use name calling to hash out what was done..it doesnt change anything..whats done is done…it was very wrong..and i do know what is going on in the case…very much so…i have family members that were victims and i was in the court room…the sentence was harsh but the crime was disgusting..these victims were stripped of everything…while tom and steve enjoyed the good life using their money…they can spin it anyway they want but in the end they didnt do what they promised with the money and even though they said the return was to be five years it didnt mean they could help themselves to all the money for their personal use…they BOTH spent the money…so they are both guilty…if i thought for a minute that the money would be paid back in a TIMELY manner then they could work it off but it wont….they could never pay them back what they took unless they were willing to give up something and they are clearly not or they would have come to court with more than they did….so if thats the case ….they deserve to be punished ..if they got out they would probably just do it to someone else….and of course i would like my relatives to get their money but if they had all that time before court to make an effort what makes me think they would make a difference if let out??? my faith is not there..sorry…..
