Texas Insurance Commissioner Jose Montemayor offered Texans effected by Hurricane Claudette some basic, common sense steps to take, and mistakes to avoid, as they attempt to receive a prompt and fair settlement from their insurance company.
“People who need help in finding their way through the claim process can get it from the TDI staff in the hurricane area,” Montemayor said. “Most policyholders, however, should have no problems if they use common sense and take a few minutes to understand what their policies cover.”
The Texas Department of Insurance is sending staff to help hurricane victims locate their insurers, answer questions about claims and coverage’s and, when necessary, to receive consumer complaints. TDI will notify local news media of its disaster center locations and phone numbers as soon as they are activated.
