My Employmeee Benefits thing is a way tongue in cheek criticism of the something for nothing crowd.
I wrote it in the early 80s when a big company near here was having a strike. The workers thought they really had issues.
In actuality the reason for the strike was to stop production long enough to sell down the product on hand. The union strike fund was fat, and using that was cheaper than a layoff.
The union’s payoff in the process was to get lots of credit for “winning” one for the workers.
It was all planned out from the start.
Wow you had me going there. I thought you were some twisted freak hellbent on extreme liberalism. I worked in the Electrical Union in Chigago for 18 years and boy have I seen a ton of brainwashed dolts in those years. The unions are coming to an end and rightfully so. They do nothing for the members anymore and they are in place strictly for muscle for the Electrical contractors who are big enough to be on the board at the union. Scabs on the job? Call the B.A. and he won’t even come to the jobsite so what is the point?
You want free lunch? Grow a garden!!!
I will feed my family first, my friends second, and if there is a surplus I will share with the rest. I will not work for the benifit of lazy losers who think they are owed! NO FREE LUNCHES EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
Well the unions do serve a purpose, but not the original purpose.
In a large company it is much easier to work with one representative than with all the employees separately.
And as a matter of fact, workers comp was pretty much won by Samuel Gompers in the U.S. and not a completely bad idea. Google him if you don’t know that history. Look up the Shirtwaist factory fire – it was the final event that got the wk comp law passed. Germany was – I think – the first country to do wk comp. Right out of the Karl Marx handbook. 1883.
Winterthur Swiss was one of the early ins companies writing comp.
Osha, unemployment ins are not bad ideas. They’ve just grown in some ways into monsters.

And another thing, if you are so concerned with slavery, how do you not see the mirror image of that with your perverted new union?
