One iron law of economics the libs can’t seem to get through their head is that if you subsidize something you will get more of it. We have already extended unemployment benefits for up to 99 weeks….which means we are subsidizing unemployment….which means we will get more unemployment if we continue to extend the benefits. I wonder how many of these 200,000 people might find a job once the government check is cut off?
This bill should have never had jobless benefits tied to the National Flood Program extension. Flood Program should stand on its own merits. We have so many idiotic Congressmen and Senators who tie several things together, stick some pork in there, don’t read it, don’t know how to fund it and then try to pass it. No wonder they have a 17% approval rating and most will also be on the unemployment lines after November. Enough is enough.
If any are over 50 years of age, they won’t get hired. A career coach had me trim 15 years of grueling hard earned experience off my resume to make me “more
attractive.” The employers want your year of birth or year of graduation then whammo, you will not hear a peep back from them. I just asked a big carrier why they need to know the year of my graduation. They replied, “Because most people show it on their resume and it’s required.” As soon as I told them the year of my graduation, they posted on my records, “Not hired.”
You obviously have a job and/or don’t know anyone who has been out of work for a long time in this economy. I know several people who have been out of work for more than a year. All of whom have been diligently searching for work. Of course, I also live in Michigan where we have one of the highest unemployment rates in the country. You should not make general judgement of people who are out of work. Trust me, for most people, the unemployment check is not enough to even pay for the basic essentials so most people I know would rather be working.
Look here are the talking points.
Republicans want to destroy our lifestyle.
Republicans already are planning to take away our social security, medicare, medicaid, Amtrak, post office, free health care. Now these evil greedy souls want to deny us the right to continue unemployment so wewon’t have time to find that just right job that is our life long goal. Keep voting Democratic in 2010 and re-elect President Obama in 2012. Let’s not change trains now that were rolling down the track.
The funny thing is that I just read an article that said even with record unemployment companies are still poaching employees. The reason is because most people who are still working are the actual good workers who keep there skill sets up to date. Not to mention most people don’t even look that hard. I had to report to people I know who were vacationing since being layed off. Atleast the government got that right and took there benefits way.
Rosie, the Democrats own the house, senate, and the white house. What is happening that they just can’t force this BS down the Republicans throat? We shall overcome and all thst crap.

Some doot legislature in your future or your kids’ future will do the same thing with health care.
Obama lied, benefits died.

if they are not hiring because you are over 50, then here comes a lawsuit… that is age discrimination!

You mean your “entitlement” lifestyle? Where those of us that work hard pay for your entitlements? if so, then I’m in favor of that.
