A North Platte man has been charged with insurance fraud after the discovery of his car in a Lincoln County canal.
The North Platte Telegraph says 31-year-old Josh Salisbury was arrested. Online court records say he’s already bonded out of jail. A public phone listing for Salisbury couldn’t be found. Online court records don’t list the name of his attorney in the case.
Police say Salisbury reported June 28 that the car was parked in front of his home when it was stolen. The car was pulled from the canal on Aug. 11. Police spokesman Rodney Brown says investigators have learned that Salisbury drove the car into the canal and later collected $27,500 in insurance.
Salisbury’s next hearing is scheduled for Sept. 18.
