Producers are assessed damage to their crops over the weekend after hail storms pounded parts of west-central Nebraska last week.
Hail destroyed soybeans in southern Dawson and eastern Frontier counties on the night of July 23. Marble- to golfball-sized hail stripped soybean plants down to the nub.
Insurance agency owner Jim Baldonado predicts some fields will be total losses.
It could be 10 days before insurance adjustors are out in the field to inspect damage.
