Castel Underwriting Agencies, the club-style MGA formation platform, appointed Vanessa Powell as its first claims manager.
Powell’s most recently worked at Mitsui Sumitomo Insurance Group where she was an aviation claims manager. She has over 30 years’ experience across all classes of aviation claims and has held senior claims roles within a number of established Lloyd’s and London market underwriting businesses and brokers.
In her new role, Powell will be responsible for the management and delivery of claims services across Castel’s existing and new cells including Altitude Risk Partners (ARP), its aerospace cell. She will also join Castel’s executive committee.
Castel launched in October 2013 to provide experienced and entrepreneurial underwriters with stable capacity and a fast-track route to create their own businesses. To date Castel has launched ARP and Newbridge, a political risk cell. Additional cell launches are planned during 2015.
