New Jersey Insurance Regulator Appoints Arbitrator for Sandy Claims

In a bulletin issued on March 28, the New Jersey Department of Banking & Insurance advised all property casualty insurers operating in the state that any unresolved first party claims against homeowners, auto and commercial insurance insurance policies may be resolved through a mediation program.

The American Arbitration Association (AAA) has been selected as the administrator of the mediation program.

If a policyholder requests mediation, the insurer is required to forward the request to the AAA within one business day of receiving the request.
