Maine fire officials are blaming lightning for a fire that damaged a York stable.
Megan Mello, the owner of Riverwatch Stables, says a relative helped her get six horses and a litter of kittens out of the stable before the fire got out of control.
The fire was reported about 6 p.m. Tuesday. There were no injuries.
Multiple fire crews from helped fight the fire.
Long-time York resident Alan Junkins tells the Portsmouth Herald the Cider Hill Road area has a long history of lightning strikes and fires.
