Falling bricks from a Manhattan building forced the fire department to close the area down as a precaution.
No injuries have been reported after the bricks fell from 40 West 38th Street Monday afternoon. The area was blocked off as fire department crews worked to secure the building. There were high winds and rain in New York on Monday. It’s not clear how long the area will remain blocked off.
The FDNY says it looks like the bricks rotted and then tumbled to the sidewalk. A temporary support was put in place.
