Tempe Fire Department personnel spend most of their time doing things other than fighting fires and the Arizona department is changing its name to reflect that.
The department is now the Tempe Fire, Medical, Rescue Department.
Officials say the change reflects that nearly four out of every five calls are for medical-related reasons.
According to the department, the name will be changed over the next five years on equipment and written material as items are replaced.
The changeover cost is estimated at $10,000.
