Prosecutors say a Los Angeles city firefighter has been sentenced to probation for filing workers’ compensation claims at the same time he was competing in mixed martial arts fighting.
The district attorney’s office says 36-year-old Raphael Davis has paid $30,000 in restitution and completed 200 hours of community service after pleading guilty to insurance fraud in September.
Superior court Judge David Horwitz on Wednesday reduced Davis’s conviction from a felony to a misdemeanor against prosecutors’ objections and sentenced him to three years’ probation.
Prosecutors said that while Davis was filing the false claims he was fighting in mixed martial arts under the nickname “The Noodle.”
