A man who was burning weeds was arrested for investigation of reckless burning after a four-alarm fire burned a Pasco, Wash., motel under renovation.
KEPR reports about 75 firefighters from the Tri-Cities, Walla Walla, Prosser and Hanford responded to the fire Monday afternoon at the Loyalty Inn.
Pasco Chief Bob Gear says it started in an outside area where the worker was clearing weeds by setting them on fire. The fire got out of control in gusty winds.
No one was inside the motel, because it’s under renovation.
