I’m so sorry you had to go through this. I read your posting, and more power to you for taking the high road. I pray that you find the peace you deserve, and can move on from this horrid tragedy. It’s a sad world when people slam YOU when putting up posts… pathetic. God Bless you Jacob, and I am so sorry for your loss.

Jake, if you are reading this, just remember your father loved you dearly. Why do I know this, your father purchased a home in Palmdale, and we were neighbors for several years. You played with my son and your father and I had long discussions about his love and devotion for you. It was an honor to have known your Dad, who devotion for you was endless.

    Jacob,
I’m so sorry all that you have had to endure in your young life. I was reading what you had posted and from that I sense that you are a good person.
I was glad to read that you are happy and that you have a good life.
I do hope you decide to visit with your dad’s best friend, Danny. I know it might be hard at first but he can share things about your dad with you that no one else can. I’m sure he has some great stories 
I lost my brother a long time ago and it means a lot to me when I get to talk to others about him.
Jacob, I don’t know you personally but you are in my heart and my prayers.

This is a sad story with no real happy ending. A good man lost his life, three children lost their father, and two evil people tried to benefit by his demise. I applaud Jacob for his vision on the future and noone can possibly know the hurt this young man and his sisters and other family members have endured. It is pretty obvious that Jennifer and Matt were a greedy couple who thought of noone other than themselves.

I believe that justice has prevailed in this matter and the ones left behind can take some comfort knowing the persons responsible for Joel’s death will remain in prison for the rest of their lives. To the person who spoke so crudely to Jacob, you should be ashamed of yourself, but it is obvious that you have no shame.

Jacob, please try to ignore the cruel posts made on this site and be proud of who you are and what you are. Your father would want you to be happy as well as your sisters. It is also good to learn that you have given your heart and soul to our Lord.

To those making rude and cruel remarks about the surviving family members please try to control yourselves as it is obvious that the son Jacob reads this thread and doesn’t need to hear such nonsense from anyone.

It appears that Jacob believes his Mother and Matt are guilty and as stated by him he has gone through it. Who would know better than Jacob and he feels as though they are guilty then the rest of the world should accept that and go with what the jury determined. It is just so sad that these children no longer have their father because of the greediness of others.

I hope that the future holds nothing but good things for the surviving family members

Evil in it’s purest form is undetectable by the innocent. It shrouds itself in a cloak of white. Bear that In mind whenever anyone or anything appears to good to be true or espouses themselves to be pure and good. Trust with eyes wide open and be prepared to examine any information without prejudice, regardless of your feelings.

Wow, they need to appeal this case to the SCOTUS. I thought we have a right to a speedy trial. Maybe its just me but being locked up for 10 years while waiting for my trial isnt speedy at all.

Where do you get this “10 years in prison”? The charged were filed in February 2002 and they were convicted in August, 2004. So they spent 2 years and change in jail. No bail, presumably because they were a flight risk. [The murder was in 1998]

I have never spoken publicly regarding this whole situation. I am pretty appalled to read some of these comments. But to each their own. I knew both Joel and Jennifer. Was married to Jennifer’s best friend and Jennifer was my ex’s maid of honor. Joel was a great guy. Jennifer was very much in love with him, at least in the beginning. But I could tell you many stories as Jennifer was either falling out of love or looking for more/different. This was way before Matt (who, by everything I have seen is a complete whacked loser) and even before Jacob. Anyways, my opinion, as I have one just as everyone else does, They are guilty. Jacob? I have never met you but keep in contact with your Aunt K. I truly miss Joel. I even miss Jennifer, at least the Jennifer I knew at one point. Danny? We met a couple times. Remember that camping trip? I remember a kick-ass sand castle? Good to ‘kinda’ hear from you. This whole thing was very very sad. Miss you Joel!

Please give me something resembling a “break.” What a disgusting, revolting human biography Jennifer is, and even more so for Matt. Further, I would LOVE and PAY TO SEE the prosecutors go after the lying b—- that is obviously Diane Bates, covering for this c-word of a daughter. Absolutely the WORST of human nature & behavior on display. If the Fletchers want to talk about money NOW 24/7, it will be about their prison canteen accounts. Just disgraceful excuses for people… I hope the family members that came on that final court day with GIFTS to give them, anticipating acquittal, went outside after the guilty verdicts and shoved those gifts right up there…well, you know —
