A West Virginia coal miner has been sentenced to two years’ probation for falsifying safety records at an Ohio County mine.
U.S. Attorney William Ihlenfeld announced the sentencing of 32-year-old Sean A. Chase of Spencer in federal court earlier this week.
Chase was convicted earlier this year of making false representations and certifications in mine safety records and making a false statement to a federal agent.
The government said Chase falsely claimed to be a mine foreman while he was working at the Tunnel Ridge Mine and was qualified to perform mine safety exams
