Alabama Gov. Robert Bentley has announced DeKalb, Etowah and surrounding counties have been approved for low-interest loans to cover damage from the March 18 storms.
The loans are being disbursed by the U.S. Small Business Administration, and Bentley says the assistance will go a long way toward helping impacted communities recover. Loans are available for homeowners, businesses and nonprofit organizations that were impacted by the storms.
Aside from DeKalb and Etowah counties, Blount, Calhoun, Cherokee, Jackson, Marshall and St. Clair counties are covered by the loans. In Georgia, Chattooga, Dade and Walker counties are included.
Renters and homeowners are eligible to apply for home disaster loans. Business owners may apply for business physical disaster loans and small businesses and nonprofits may apply for economic injury disaster loans.
