Crews at Fort Benning are working to repair three buildings damaged by a tornado on the Georgia Army post eight months ago.
The Columbus Ledger-Enquirer reports that fixing two Army barracks buildings and the National Guard training center is estimated to cost $2.9 million.
The buildings were damaged April 16 when a tornado touched down on the Army post in Columbus.
Fort Benning officials say most of the damage was cosmetic, though one of the barracks buildings had siding torn away that exposed metal studs, while the other also had some ripped siding and a shattered window.
