Kentucky State Police say someone stole a small safe and some other items from a Central Kentucky church and then tried to burn it down to obscure the crime.
KSP Public Affairs Officer Billy Gregory said the fire failed to destroy Walnut Hill Separate Baptist Church.
The break-in occurred sometime between Monday and Wednesday.
KSP arson investigator Alex Wesley is in charge of the investigation.
