Police say a Macon man accused of stealing a taxicab told officers he drove it to Wendy’s because he didn’t want to walk to the fast-food restaurant.
The Telegraph of Macon reports that 22-year-old Gene Cornett has been charged with theft by taking.
Police said Cornett told officers he found the cab in a vacant lot near his home with the keys inside, and decided to drive it to Wendy’s. Authorities say the taxi was found in the Wendy’s parking lot on Gray Highway.
Bibb County Jail records showed that Cornett was being held Monday morning on a $1,850 bond. The records do not indicate whether he has an attorney in the case.
