Two parents are suing the Beaufort County School District for negligence after their son broke both arms on a school playground.
Patricia and Ben Stott told The Beaufort Gazette that the Bluffton Elementary School playground isn’t adequately supervised.
The Stotts’ 6-year-old son fell off a slide at the school in 2008. The lawsuit says the boy’s medical bills were more than $41,000, and he also suffered emotional distress.
The suit says there were 120 other students on the playground and only three teachers. The Stotts want the district to pay them back for the bills and other expenses.
A spokeswoman for the school district said it had not been served with the lawsuit and could not comment. The suit was filed Nov. 5.
