Residents of a southern Louisville neighborhood have sued Nuplex Resins over a chemical spill that sent vapors through sewer pipes.
The Louisville Courier-Journal reported that three people filed the suit last Friday in Jefferson Circuit Court over the Feb. 1 incident.
Nuplex officials could not be reached Friday evening for comment. Several days after the Feb. 1 incident, the company apologized to residents and promised to cover expenses that were directly related to the spill.
The residents are seeking class-action status for the lawsuit, covering anyone in a 1.6 mile zone around the plant. The Metropolitan Sewer District at the time had estimated that as many as 50 homes were affected by the company’s chemical vapors moving through the sewers.
