Kentucky State Police Seeking Projects to Curb Teen Drinking

December 8, 2009

Kentucky State Police are seeking projects to support with grant funding as part of an effort to reduce underage drinking.

The KSP serves as state administrator for the Enforcing Underage Drinking Laws grant.

KSP Commissioner Rodney Brewer says enforcement must be accompanied by education to make people fully aware of the dangers involved with underage drinking.

The grant application package is available through the Kentucky Justice Cabinet Web site.

Applications for the federal grant money must be submitted by Jan. 15.

In 2008, there were 3,067 DUI arrests in Kentucky for teen drivers between the ages of 16 and 19, according to the Administrative Office of the Courts.
