Diagnosed with Emphysema in my 30’s was a shocker! I smoked maybe 2 packs a week, and never during the day; only occaissonally after work. BUT,my parents were heavy smokers, and working as cocktail waitress to pay for college, I had no choice re: second-hand smoke!

Too bad the Florida Supreme Court didn’t do the “right thing” and completely throw out this bogus lawsuit. Sorry but the smokers choose to smoke and the dangers of smoking have been documented for hundreds of years. I have no sympathy for them and the certainly don’t deserve any money for their own stupidity. Oh, I was a smoker for 15 years and quit 10 years ago.

Johnny, Hope you’re feeling well and not sick from smoking and have lost no loved ones due to tobacco.

One thing that caught my eye in your post. The dangers of smoking have NOT been known for hundreds of years. In fact, when I started smoking in 1966(and I wish my mom, a smoker, would have put me through a wall instead of saying “I wish you wouldn’t do that.”)there was really no reason NOT to smoke… no health related reason anyway(that we were aware of.) Granted it was nasty and made you and your clothes smell awful(which I really didn’t notice till after I stopped smoking in 1990) ‘Nice ladies don’t smoke’, a 40-s 50-s thing was already passe and there were certainly no warning labels…and we were even told that smoking was ‘good’ for us. Check out this utube video.(in comment part 2. (long winded am I)

My dad died from smoking two packs of cigarettes a day, since his college days. He was totally adicted to nicotine till the day he died. He had no idea that it was causing his arteries to harden and was going to kill him . But the tobacco companies did !! The crime here was that the tobacco companies knew and did not divulge it to its customers . I still remember the old Camel ads that extolled the ” T” zone benefits to the throat in their print ads. The court has rendered a just decision. And to those who see this as lining up at the trough for the money,They havent felt the pain of losing a father or a loved one who died a premature death that robbed him of his golden years.

As a young person asked to light a cigarette, you have no idea the dangers (even when it’s said on the pack that cigarette smoking may be hazardous to your health). You are given one cigarette, you were not given the pack of cigarettes to read. So, when you go to the stove to light a cigarette, only by the flame and depending on how slow or fast the flame burns lights the paper, but with a puffing you’re done, (and you know kids don’t have a lot of time, so they think) not knowing that one drag or toke is there nicotine addition and it’s not even their fault, especially when the tobacco companies are using tar and other additives to undermind and hook us all, unaware. Nicotine is an addiction, whether you fault the tobacco companies or God. The tobacco companies were acts against God, also. What are some people suggesting? They think they know everything about the cause of nicotine addition or the justification for health problems. The tobacco people knew what they were doing, more than I knew what they were doing to me. They had to be forced to label: cigarettes will cause serious health problems, after it was too late for many. Second-hand-smoke is an evil that belong solely to the tobacco companies.

I am sorry for your loss. I too lost someone but the reason for my comment is that you might want to check your spelling and grammer before you send messages it will help greatly in sparking interest in your cause. Please except my apology I do not intend to insult you just to bring to light the importance of spelling good luck

My husband started smoking when he was in the service during the 2nd WW. He was given the cigarettes by the Red Cross. They were doing our boys a “favor”, not knowing that it would someday make them ill and even die from the effects. My husband is now suffering with COPD, Emphesema and bronchiectasis along with having triple by-pass surgery all from smoking. He needs medication to breathe. He has not smoked now in about 15 years but is now suffering tremendously as the damage has been done. He also has circulatory problems as well. This is a devastating drug and should be banned from human consumption.

WE SHOULD NOT ALLOW MORE PEOPLE TO BE ADDED TO THE ORIGINAL LAWSUIT WITH STANLEY M. ROSENBLATT.
