GOOD LUCK TO JOHNNY WHO QUIT 10 YEARS AGO. MY DAD HAD QUIT 15 YEARS BEFORE HEART DISEASE FROM SMOKING TOOK HIM, MY HUSBAND HAD QUIT 5 YEARS BEFORE HE DEVELOPED EMPHYSEMIA WHICH SMOWLY TOOK HIM IN 6 YEARS. WHAT A TERRIBLE WAY TO GO! THE CHEAP, EASY TO OBTAIN TOBACCO PRODUCTS WERE THE CAUSE, POOR CHOICE WHERE TO BLAIM. LET’S TAX THE PRODUCTS UNTIL THE COST LIMITS THE USE!
My MOM passe away 02/2001 because of emphysema. She started smoking back in the 40’s and back then it was the thing to do I guess. When we found out about her illness she tried to quit and even had two shots to help her and it did NOTHING !!! That was the only vice my Mom ever had I could not belive that a person who I knew was so strong willed could not give up something that was killing her. She was able to quit several months before she passed. She told me she was tired of fighting to take one breath of air…..
I tell people I know that smoke what she told me and they just keep on asmoking ?????
The injuried or the families of (20,000 to 50,000+) get to split around 600 million, while the attorney’s get 218 million why would they not settle ?? The Attorney’s fee should be on top of any judgement!!!
To recover attorney fees separately, to my understanding, you have to have a standard fee arrangement – not a contingency fee arrangement. The contingency fee is what gets the lawyers the big bucks in these cases. If contingency fees were capped at standard rates plaintiffs would see more recovery.
The whole system is screwy and needs to be revamped.

Helllllooooo. . .Many people began smoking long before warning labels were ever placed on cigarettes. Before they knew the real dangers of smoking, it was too late. . .they were addicted. The cigarette companies should have had to put up $140+ billion to appeal the case. Unfortunately, the judge disagreed because it would put the tobacco companies out of business. Unbelievable! THEY SHOULD BE PUT OUT OF BUSINESS. Why is it ok for the tobacco companies to kill our loved ones? They knew full well that they were putting addicting substances in cigarettes. Assholes. They all lied under oath about it too. They should all be put in jail. Bastards.
