Medical Protective, a professional liability carrier for doctors, announced a rate reduction for Florida physicians by an average of 8.7% statewide.
“We are seeing some moderate improvements in our Florida loss trends and are thus in a position to reduce our Florida rates,” said Timothy Kenesey, president and CEO of Medical Protective. “Time will tell whether such reduced loss trends are the result of the recent Florida reforms, and whether such reforms will help contain previously out-of-control losses. In either case, we will remain focused on ensuring we price according to the risks we assume so that we can continue to offer Florida doctors what they expect: the industry’s most proactive and winning defense and most insightful risk management solutions, backed by the industry’s strongest financial ratings.”
Medical Protective’s claims experts reportedly manage more than 15,000 claims a year, more than 80% of which are closed without a loss payment, and its physicians win at trial nearly 90% of the time. It also offers a variety of office- and web-based risk management and patient safety solutions.
