Becker & Poliakoff P.A., a Florida-based international commercial law firm, announced its receipt of the 2005 Thomson Elite Excellence in Legal Marketing Award in relation to the firm’s work following the devastating hurricanes that hit Florida during a six-week period in 2004.
Within three days after Hurricane Charley struck Florida, Becker &
Poliakoff launched a client service initiative to help clients and others deal with post-disaster recovery and reconstruction efforts. The plan included six free informational seminars for homeowners affected by the hurricanes and offered an informative special section within the firm’s Web site under a dedicated Internet domain of http://www.hurricane-recovery.com .
Becker & Poliakoff was selected by a panel of leading legal and marketing professionals as winner of the “Marketing Initiative of the Year” award for its rapid implementation of an outreach campaign offering Florida residents “a place to turn to” for information on recovery rights, insurance coverage, and reconstruction contacts for condominium residents, homeowners and the Boards of their community associations.
Becker & Poliakoff’s immediate launch of the campaign reportedly helped community associations statewide rebuild damaged or lost
property in the wake of the storms that swept the state during the summer of 2004.
The hurricane-recovery.com site was “live” five days after the impact of
Hurricane Charley and was kept up-to-date as the other hurricanes raged across Florida.
Continuously updated content during the entire hurricane season included articles written by firm attorneys experienced in hurricane disasters and common interest housing issues. Topics included a checklist for proper procedures, insurance issues, tax issues, liability and other information geared to assist managers, board members and residents of condominiums and other common interest housing with recovery efforts.
