Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner Hosts Recovery Roundup in Moore

Central Oklahoma storm survivors still dealing with insurance issues are invited to a recovery assistance event hosted by the Oklahoma Insurance Department (OID). The Recovery Roundup will be held Aug. 17 at Southmoore High School from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

The goal of the Recovery Roundup is to meet with any storm survivors still experiencing insurance issues. Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak has requested that all the major insurance companies send several representatives to the event to answer questions and address any unresolved claims or concerns.

Officials from the City of Moore and City of Oklahoma City will also be available to answer questions about debris removal, permits and other rebuilding issues.

Oklahomans have filed nearly 88,000 claims since May 19, totaling $945,046,255 in insurance payments. But many consumers are still dealing with unresolved insurance claims, which is not uncommon three to four months after a large-scale disaster.

“A significant percentage of claims have been paid,” said Doak. “But the ones still open 90 days after the disaster are usually the most difficult claims to resolve. We are here for the long haul. The experts from our department can help the survivors find a solution so they can finally start rebuilding their lives.”
