The LSU AgCenter’s LaHouse Home and Landscape Resource Center will showcase hurricane and flood-hardy features for homes at an open house on July 27.
The open house from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. will focus on improvements that minimize potential damage from high winds, flooding and other natural hazards, LSU AgCenter housing specialist Claudette Reichel says.
Visitors can tour the demonstration home and speak with AgCenter housing specialists.
Features on display include roofing systems that can withstand hurricanes and building systems fortified to 130-mph wind resistance.
LaHouse Resource Center is at 2858 Gourrier Ave. across from Alex Box Baseball Stadium in Baton Rouge.
Admission is $5 per adult to help support educational programming and exhibits.
