Investigators say a driver in a Houston-area wreck that left his car on fire died after falling about 100 feet from an elevated highway ramp.
The Harris County Sheriff’s Office says the accident Sunday night killed Joe Campos Jr.
Authorities say Campos was attempting to take an Interstate 10 exit when his car hit a concrete barrier and burst into flames. Deputies say the impact left the driver’s side door stuck.
Investigators say Campos managed to crawl out a window to escape the flames but lost his balance and fell off the roadway, tumbling about 100 feet to a lower highway.
Campos was dead at the scene. Authorities say the accident remains under investigation.
