Man Sues Feds Over Loss of Family in Arkansas Flood

A man who lost his wife and 3-year-old son in the disastrous flood at a southwest Arkansas campground in 2010 is suing the federal government, saying his family should have been warned about the dangerous conditions.

Adam Jez of Foreman says in the lawsuit filed Wednesday in Texarkana that his wife, 23-year-old Leslie Jez, and son, Kaden Jez, died because the U.S. Forest Service didn’t warn campers, despite the campground’s long history of flooding.

Twenty people, including seven children, died when the Little Missouri River roared through the streamside campground on June 11, 2010. A thunderstorm stalled over mountains that drain into the river, and the resulting torrent ripped away tents, RVs and people from the Albert Pike Campground.

Rescuers needed four days to find the last body.
