The Red Cross says preliminary reports indicate four homes, five outbuildings and possibly a few vacant mobile homes were destroyed in a wind-driven wildfire that swept through Spencer.
Red Cross spokesman Rusty Surette said in a news release that dozens of families were evacuated during the Wednesday fire but none stayed at the Red Cross’ temporary shelter overnight.
He said officials from the Red Cross and the Oklahoma Department of Emergency Management will assess the damage Thursday and have more specific details.
