Cincinnatti, Ohio-based Great American Insurance Group hired John W. Tholen as vice president of reinsurance. 
Tholen will lead the reinsurance function for the company’s Property & Casualty operations. His responsibilities encompass a broad array of activities, including purchasing corporate catastrophe covers, reinsurance security, portfolio level catastrophe modeling and all accounting requirements under the company’s reinsurance agreements.
Prior to joining Great American, Tholen was the director of reinsurance placement for Markel Corporation and vice president of Financial Analysis and Structured Risk Underwriting at Munich Reinsurance America.
